Program overview

The program's academic curriculum is structured to provide 300 ECTS credits, equivalent to five years of full-time study including Degree Thesis 10 ECTS and Professional Training for Pharmacists 30 ECTS.
The program is hosted by the University of Zagreb Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry, a leading institution in Croatia for biomedical and health sciences research and education.
Upon graduation, students earn the University Master of Pharmacy degree, which qualifies them as licensed healthcare professionals within the EU/EEA since the program is set up in accordance with Directive 2005/36/EC and therefore recognized throughout EU member states. This degree opens pathways to diverse pharmacy-related careers, including roles in community and hospital pharmacies, the pharmaceutical industry, academia, research institutes, or regulatory agencies.
The program offers a comprehensive combination of compulsory and elective courses. Students can choose from over 30 elective courses available from the second to fifth year, allowing them to tailor their education to their specific interests and explore a wide range of topics.

Studying Pharmacy Program in English you will:
  • Apply fundamental knowledge from natural and biomedical sciences in the research, development, production, analysis and quality control of drugs and other  pharmaceutical products.
  • Develop, select and apply technological and analytical procedures in the development, production, analysis and quality control of drugs and other pharmaceutical products in accordance with the current regulatory requirements.
  • Integrate and apply knowledge and skills from pharmaceutical sciences in predicting and monitoring the effects of the drug.
  • Apply knowledge and skills from the field of clinical pharmacy with the aim of ensuring rational pharmacotherapy.
  • Apply professional knowledge, skills and technologies in providing pharmaceutical care at all levels of healthcare, respecting current legal regulations, current health policies and guidelines, and principles of pharmaceutical ethics and deontology.
  • Critically assess and apply professional and scientific knowledge and technologies to achieve specified objectives.
  • Apply knowledge and skills in the field of drug registration and distribution.
  • Develop personal competencies necessary for independent and collaborative work in the pharmacy profession.
Structure and program content:
The program starts on 1st October. Each year is divided in winter and summer semester.  Winter semester is usually until the end of January, with Christmas and New Year two weeks break. Winter terms are in February, followed by the beginning of summer semester from March to mid-June. Mid-June to mid-July is the time for summer terms. Lastly, fall terms are after the summer break, in September.
